The project for JW Didado included providing Ground Penetrating Radar location services prior to excavation. The team demolished one circuit breaker foundation entirely and partially removed four bus support foundations to 6 inches below the finished grade. Mechanical excavation and backfill were performed for concrete foundations, which were then formed and poured as per the project drawings. Foundations were installed for various components, including three F-35 230kV circuit breakers, two F-30 69kV circuit breakers, a transformer, two staircases for the control building, and other structures such as drilled piers, switch stands, and monopole foundations. Labor was provided to install an oil containment barrier, along with pea gravel beneath the liner and 1.5″ stone within the containment area. Piping was also installed within the containment area. Four 6″ powder-coated bollards were installed, and concrete testing was conducted for structural concrete work. The existing double swing gate was removed and replaced with two motorized slide gates and one privacy walk gate assembly. Foundations for these gates, as well as an access slab, were formed and poured according to specifications. Excavation and backfill were completed for conduit trenches, grounding, and cable trenches, with foundation spoils stockpiled on-site and stone areas restored after excavation activities.
